I would suggest building their trust through three emails sent once a week or every two weeks if you want to be super conservative, before you start asking them to buy or sign up for something. Doing this will prepare them for the offer, they will be much more likely convert on what you ask them to do, and they provide you the return on your initial investment that you were looking for.
