Rule #2 - Keep it Measurable.

Once you have a mortgage marketing campaign in place, how do you measure the success of the campaign? Yes, it should bring in more leads and more sales. But you should be able to quantify exactly how successful the campaign was - and to do it, you need to keep track of numbers. If you start a mailing campaign by sending out 2000 mail pieces, there's a lot of data to track. How much did you pay for the materials? How much did you pay in postage? What was your response rate? What percentage of responses resulted in sales? By carefully tracking the costs associated with any campaign, you can easily determine whether the campaign is beneficial, and just as easily eliminate the unsuccessful or unprofitable campaigns.

Rule #3 - Use a Strong Call to Action.

The best-designed mortgage marketing ideas are worthless if it doesn't tell the prospect what to do next. Your call to action should be clear and direct. Don't make assumptions about prospects calling. If you don't tell them what to do, they won't do it. Again, be specific - "Call me today for a free copy of my report" or "Go to my website to receive a free copy of my money saving article." A simple call to action can make all the difference to your marketing campaign and completely change your response rate.

Getting Back Links Without Spending A Fortune

When you've built your web site and you want to promote it, back links, meaning one-way links to your site from other sites, are an effective tool. If you are running on a tight budget (like zero), you need ways to get these links without being obliged to spend a fortune.

Getting listed in the search engines is a first priority. When people want information or solutions, they turn to the search engines for help. They look for information by typing in a particular word or phrase ("keyword"). If the search engine has already identified your site as having relevant content for this keyword, then your site will show up in the listings and people will be able to click on the link to go to your site.

So far, so good. How do you get the search engine to notice your site? One possibility, but not the best, is to directly submit your site using the page on the search engine site itself. It's not the best because it can take a long time and also search engines are more geared to including sites where someone else on the Net had already given their approval. That approval comes in the form of a link from that person's site. So really, that it what you need to work on, rather than submitting directly and hoping for the best.

OK, how do you get someone else to approve your site, so that the search engines take notice? First of all, find sites that the search engines already like. Stay with me on this! You'll see that it's really quite simple. There's a hint of the chicken and the egg here, but in any case, it turns out that search engines have already listed enormous numbers of sites that they consider "valid".

Directories on the Net are a case in point. Many of them have good rankings in the search engines and will accept a submission from your site if they consider it to be good content for inclusion. Check to see if a condition of inclusion is to have a link on your site pointing back to them. If this is the case, you lose the value of the link that is pointing to your site. This is because search engines decided recently that this kind of "reciprocal" linking really did not indicate the relative values of the sites concerned, so they chose to ignore this kind of link.

Building on this, you can also submit other content apart from your website and its separate pages. Article marketing is built on this concept. You write short articles (500 words) using a keyword in each article that corresponds to the theme of your site. If your site is about horses for example, you could write a series of articles on themes like horse health, horse racing, pony trekking and so on.

You then submit your articles to article sites on the Net. These article sites are in effect directories just dealing with articles of this type but for all the different subjects that you can imagine. When you submit, make sure that you include a link back to your site, for each article. Upon acceptance of your article in the article site, two positive effects should occur. People reading articles directly on the site will be incited to visit your site. Editors of newsletters and ezines who may republish your article (with its link) and search engines that pick up your article (with its link) then multiply the exposure that you can get.

Forums and blogs are yet other ways of increasing the exposure of your link. The common theme running through all of this, whether it's your initial web pages or the articles that you write or the comments that you leave on blogs and forums, is the quality of your content. It's not advertising. If you want to advertise there are other solutions but you have to pay. For the solutions that we are discussing here, you have to contribute good information first, gain people's interest and trust and then suggest that they come to your site to get further info. Remember this and you will build the relationship that will get people to click on your link and come to your site.

Here is a simple set of steps that you should make sure you follow when you are starting out. Remember, you can easily get side tracked surfing the net, or even thinking that you need to buy that one more resource that will answer all your questions.

  1. Research. Limit yourself to 2 hours. In that 2 hours, you will find your topic to market. Hit forums and chat rooms to see what people are talking about. Check out news groups. Once you find your market, find an affiliate item that you are going to promote. When you are a newbie internet marketer, it is easy to think you don't have enough information. Get comfortable with moving forward with what you have...as time goes by, you'll get faster and better at what you're doing.
  2. Analysis. Limit to 2 hours. You found your product and market. Start looking at other ads and articles to see how people are marketing. Check out the reviews and really get to know your product. You need to be the expert or no one is going to buy it. Once you have a great understanding of the product, start to create your campaign. Write your articles ( at least 2), build your landing page, and create your Pay Per Click ads.
  3. Implementation. Limit to 1 hour. You should have all this created from the analysis phase. This is where you submit your articles, set up your ads, and get all your materials live. Make sure you are checking to see that all your links work.
  4. Test and tweak. Ongoing. Once you launch your campaign, sit back and watch to see your results. If after a few weeks, you are not getting the results, it is time to tweak. A few questions to think about...Am I targeting the right product to the right people? Is this product any good? Is my ad copy weak? Am I reaching my audience too early in their buy cycle? Newbie internet marketer, don't forget that you want your mindset to be based on the customer needs, not your need for money!

There is an incredible amount of hype about how to make money online.   • first it gives you a way to think about your business, and
  • second it acts as blueprint or checklist of what you need to focus in on to be profitable

I use a six process model when setting up an online business. Examples of these processes are Acquire Products and Website Promotion. With this model I can be sure that there is nothing major that I have left out and I can then focus on the processes that add the most value to my business.

Another important aspect of this approach is measurement. As a business owner you need to know how your business is performing so you will put in place ways to measure how each of your processes is performing. For example lets say that you use Google Analytics or Statcounter to measure the number of visitors to your website. If you are not getting the amount of qualified traffic you need to make a profit then you need to focus in on the Website Promotion process. This may mean that you re-evaluate the keywords you are using or that you need to look at alternative ways to promote your business and so on.

Watch how quickly your previously "indecisive" clients, start taking action. You've done your job to tell them the facts. You've backed that up with an offer to help them make money in the same way that Donald Trump is making money. There may be objections that come up.

Here is the KEY: if you are convinced that this is the best time to buy, then they will be too. People can sense the depth of your conviction, so convince yourself first and then you will be attracting your ideal clients.

How To Maintain Your Search Engine Rankings Always On Top

If you start a new site from scratch and optimize it starting from onpage optimization up till offpage optimization it will take at least two months to see results.

Obviously there are some exceptions and the reasons are very difficult to identify sometimes. However such factors like the number of competition for your keywords and the type and quantity of links you get all effect how fast you get rankings.

Keep in mind that if you do get a ton of links fast and you get high rankings you need to keep getting a ton of links fast or you loose rankings. That is not realistic, so there is no fast way to get rankings. Getting links which are the core of optimization slowly and steadily will allow your site to rank and keep it rankings if you keep getting links slowly and steadily even after your site is ranked on top.

If you stop getting links, your rankings won't remain always on top. However does not mean you have to keep doing all the work. You may outsource and another advantage is that with your site ranked on top many webmasters will automatically contact you for a link exchange. Apart from that fact, you just have to get some links regularly to maintain your position. You need more links to get rankings than to maintain your site at top.

Older sites are more appreciated by search engines, so as your site gets old you have an advantage as well. The initial steps to get rankings can be classified as a bit tough but the rest becomes much easier.

This is what you need to do once you start getting high rankings:

1) Check that your link partners are still linking back to your website.

2) Add new articles once in a while, although the more you add the better as long as they are articles you create not copied.

3) Add nofollow tags on certain links like terms of conditions, earning disclaimers and privacy policies. There is no need for these pages to rank high in search engines. By putting nofollow tag, search engine spiders ignore them and they do not give them pr, instead they give the pr to your other important pages. If you have a high pagerank website do that and you may see an increase in pr to your other pages.

4) Monitor your search engine rankings for your keywords. If a particular keyword looses ranks work on that keyword. It means get backlinks so it regains position. Use the keyword in the anchor text of each backlink but always change it a bit now and then. Changing a bit means add a word or two different with the keyword. For example if the keyword is blue cars use variations like:

blue cars available
tons of blue cars
blue cars for sale
very fast blue cards

You got the point.

This shows that you can achieve high rankings and it also shows one other important thing to take note of. Choose low competing keywords at first. If you have a new site it is very hard to compete for high competing keywords. Once you gain rankings and pagerank start working on other keywords.

Search engine optimization provides you with monthly free targeted traffic. After initial few months you start getting traffic and then lots of it. People using Google are more likely to buy than those using other search engines so monitor your rankings on Google and aim for the top rankings.

Google is the number one search engine, buyers prefer it simple because it gives the most accurate results.

It seems every day I get a call from someone looking for advice on how to make money on the Internet.

They have goals, great goals, but they are lost. They can't figure out what to sell.

When someone gets a debilitating disease and can't fend for themselves, they will do anything or pay anything just to get some help and keep their dignity.

Those are just a couple examples.

Theres so many different markets. Theres just millions of them.

Youve got to come up with one thats hungry with a real need and where theres money to spend.

Just remember, the market you sell to doesn't have to be sexy and it doesn't have to be exciting. It just has to be big, passionate and filled with people who aren't afraid to spend money.

And if you go for the "boring" ones, you will find less competition and an environment where it is easier to make money.

However, it is useful to understand that there are two "clans" for organic SEO experts, and these two clans use very different strategies in getting results.

The first clan is called white hat SEO, the other one is called the black hat!

Here are the differences between the strategies used by the two clans.

Quality Content versus Exploiting Algorithm Loopholes

White hat SEO experts build quality content. As the adage goes "Content is King" on the Internet. Quality content is the best bait for targeted incoming links - people who find your article informative and interesting will recommend you by putting a link on their site.

The Black hats SEO clan, instead, constantly looks for technical loopholes in the search engine algorithms to "game" the search engines, such as cloaking sites, nasty redirects, keyword stuffing and many others. When the search engines algorithms are reviewed, these site are very often kicked out of the index, but these black hat SEO experts simply get though this by searching for another loophole.

Attracting Links versus Participation in Linking Schemes

When you have more incoming links, it would mean to the search engine that you "have been recommended" by more people, so naturally you should appear higher in the search listings.

However, again the two clans use different strategies to get their incoming links. The white hat SEO experts often looks at a website and ask themselves "How do I get people to link to want to link to this site willingly?" The eventual result can be the using the best link bait as mentioned above - using quality content, or more applying a more creative strategy by providing a viral service that people would want to recommend to friends.

The black hats, on the other hand, simply thinks of "How do I get links to the site?" They pay no consideration to whether the links provide value to the visitors and readers. The eventual strategy that emerges usually turns out to be schemes like link farms and reciprocal link schemes.

Learning about the search algorithms to follow them versus learning about the algorithms to exploit them

Both clans of SEO expert do a massive amount of research, except that they do their research for different purposes. Search engine algorithms change frequently, and research is done to learn about the changes in algorithms - which strategies work, and which doesn't.

The white hat SEO clan uses this way of thinking - "How can I use the algorithm to help me rank well?" The black hat SEO clan thinks using - "How do I bypass this meddlesome algorithm and rank well?"

Again, because the search engine algorithms change very frequently, the black hat clan will find their rankings to drop once the algorithms change to cover the loophole. White hat SEO techniques will often stay high in rankings.
